Three years ago I was blogging about communications, but in a very different way. Of course, that was before Covid thrust us into a remote world and communications practices were turned sideways overnight. For some reason though, amidst the chaos thrown at all internal comms professionals at the time, the change felt like the most exciting thing to happen in my line of work in years, and I lapped it up like a dog eating bacon off a warm skillet. I became immersed in creating new ways to communicate sans real-world connections. I provided guidance on transforming company culture, and gave talks about how to redefine the employee experience to suit remote workers. The world suddenly looked very different, and I hurled myself into the deep end of the change pool. Remote work communications became my focus, and this new blog From the Waist Up was born.
